Evidence Based Practice
My approach is integrative, meaning I pull from the best evidence-based techniques to find what works best for you, including EMDR, CBT, & ACT.
About me
Coming from a family of psychologists, I was fortunate to be exposed to this line of work, to have amazing role models, and to find my passion early in life. I now absolutely love seeing the positive outcomes in the lives of those I work with. I hope that if we work together, it will be an incredibly positive experience for us both.
Permanent results, achieved efficiently, that is my aim with every person I work with.
I have built my approach based on what I have found (and what the research shows) to be the most efficient, goal-oriented, and individually flexible psychological modalities.
I believe that effective therapy requires looking at the past, present and future. By looking to the past and seeing the journey so far, we can identify and work on the root causes of present day struggles. By looking at the present, we can understand both the current habits and patterns of behaviour that need to be changed, as well as identify the strengths that can be relied on. And we must look to the future; to know what kind of a life we want to build and to identify what it is we truly value.
When we work together, we will address all of these parts. We’ll address the roots of present day problems, stop any unhelpful patterns of behaviour and thinking, build up present day strengths, and plan and prepare for a future life which is filled with the things most important to you.
To read more about my technical approach, please see “My Core Clinical Framework” under the about tab.

3. Attend Your First Session
Simply show up on the day of your appointment. If you are attending via Telehealth you can join the video call via the link which will be given to you when you make your booking. If you have any relevant documents such as a MHCP, you may send these through via email before your first session.
In our first appointment we will typically discuss your current concerns, set therapeutic goals, and agree on which therapeutic approach would be the best fit for you.
If you have any questions about the process for various assessments (I.e., Assessments for Autism, ADHD, etc.), I am happy to answer these via phone or email. Alternatively please see the Services tab.
There is no need for a referral to schedule appointments, however rebates are available for those with a Mental Health Care Plan (Medicare GP referral), private health insurance, WorkCover Queensland, Victims of Crime, or NDIS (self-managed or plan managed). We will ask for up-to-date details of your GP in order to coordinate care.
Individual appointments are $250. There is no need for a referral to work with me, however I recommend checking the other tabs to see if there are any rebates which you may qualify for.
Read more here about Medicare and Mental Health Care Plan funding.
You can access this Medicare funded rebate by visiting your GP. Your GP will complete a Mental Health Care Plan with you, and then send a referral to me (please provide your GP with my email: dante@dantepsychology.com). Then you will be able to claim a rebate of $98.95 per session for up to 10 sessions per year.
The rebate amount varies depending on your plan and insurer. No GP referral is required if you are claiming a rebate through your private health insurance.
You will need to pay for appointments and claim the rebate directly from your insurer using the receipts from your appointments.
Read more here about NDIS and NDIS funding.
NDIS will cover the full cost of appointments. I work with Self-Managed & Plan Managed NDIS participants.
For Plan Managed clients, please send through your NDIS plan and plan manager details to me prior to your first appointment.
Read more here about Work Cover & Victim Assist funding.
